Salvation Army’s Winter Night Watch is upon us and thank you to the individuals that have signed up so far. We are still needed to fill spots for December 27th. November is Rotary Foundation Month and this year we are asking our members to sign up to give $10 per month. When you sign up for this monthly donation, you will automatically be a Paul Harris Sustaining member every year. The Rotary Foundation’s work includes Education, Health, Economic Development, Peace and Water. 
 
Please see Warren or Jennifer if you would like help signing up or for more information.
 
 
We are about to finalize our printed Roster for this year, so if you would like to have your business advertised within the roster, please contact Dave Fulton and he will share with you the different options available. This is a great way to showcase your business to all members of the club!
 
 
Introducing our next Social Event - ROTARY BIG CANVAS COMEDY NIGHT. This will be held on Thursday, November 21st at Blackstone Theater. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the show will start at 7:00pm. Tickets will be available soon. YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS!!!!
 
 
Omaha West After Hours - our next club meeting will be on Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Vincenzo’s. This has been a great extension of our club where members come to chat about Rotary, network with members and fun conversations about the upcoming events and service opportunities. 
 
Weekly Announcements (9/20/24)
 
On October 3rd, Cruise Planners will be hosting an After Hours at Beacon Hills in Aksarben from 5pm to 7pm! Come enjoy a fun time with other rotarians with amazing drinks and laughter!
 
 
Guest Day will be held on October 4th. This is a great opportunity for people you know that are interested in learning more about Rotary. We will have a fun-filled agenda for everyone. Please RSVP your guests to Mark Ellsworth.

Please join us for this historic inaugural meeting and invite guests that want to learn more about Rotary but can’t make it to our normal Friday meetings!

 

Monday, September 16th at 11am will be our Annual Golf Tournament at Pacific Springs. We will have a happy hour for our non-golfers, raffle prizes, games and a lot of fun!

Weekly Announcements (8/23/24)

A generous donor has gifted us with 7 skybox tickets to the Huskers vs Northern Iowa football game on September 14th at 6:30pm in Lincoln. The suite will have beverages, dinner, tv, and a bathroom. It also comes with 2 garage parking passes across the street from Memorial Stadium.

The proceeds from this auction will go to our Omaha West Rotary Foundation which supports a variety of projects in our community.

TO BID - please send your highest bid to Jennifer Jirak-Brungardt by 5pm, Sunday, August 25th via email (executivedirector@omahawestrotary.org). The highest bidder for the complete package win!

This is the last week of collecting money for “Stuff the Backpack with Cash” to help the Skinner Magnet Skyhawks. Skinner Elementary is our partner school through OPS. We will apply for a matching grant from the Omaha West Foundation to purchase clothes, shoes, coats and winter gear, and personal hygiene products for the Skinner Family Room. The administration and support staff at Skinner have shared with us that their biggest needs this year are coats, hats and gloves/mittens.

The community service committee will be collecting cash on Aug. 2, 9, and 16 for the "Stuff the Backpack with Cash" event to help the Skinner Magnet Skyhawks. Skinner Elementary is our partner school through OPS. We will apply for a matching grant from the Omaha West Foundation to purchase clothes, shoes, coats and winter gear, and personal hygiene products for the Skinner Family Room. The administration and support staff at Skinner will share the needs of Skinner families before we spend any money.

Rotary built and maintains 11 libraries in North Omaha and we are always looking for volunteers and books.  Every 4-6 weeks on a Saturday morning 3-4 volunteers spend an hour changing out books at a couple of libraries. Contact Bonnie Gill (email: bmgjazz@gmail.com) if you want to be added to the list. And if you have any used books, adult, teen or children, they can be dropped off at Bonnie Gill's house or she will arrange to get them at a meeting. 

 

We are looking for Rotary Readers to work with first and second grade students at Skinner Magnet Center  September thru May. It involves an hour of your time once a week, and we have a list of subs when needed. Before you say no, think about any friends or family that may be able to do it.  Just last week Dwayne Brown's Aunt called about joining the group. You do not need teaching skills just the availability to spend a half hour with a student weekly motivating them to read.  Please spread the Word and contact Bonnie Gill if you have any questions or want to be a Reader.  See the flyer below for more information!
