The Metro Luncheon is a 40 year tradition designed to bring Metro clubs together for fellowship and for a terrific speaker. Suburban Rotary is hosting this year and will feature Bill Moos, the Director of Athletics at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on October 4, 11:30am - 1:00pm at Anthony's Steakhouse, 7220 F St. This event is expected to sell out quickly. Don't miss this opportunity to hear a gifted and highly desired speaker. Prepayment is required so buy your ticket now by clicking here. You can also pay at any weekly meeting before October 4. We will not meet on Oct 5 and all Metro clubs meetings are cancelled that week.

Omaha West Rotary Club Secretary Report for September 21, 2018:
Omaha West Rotary Club Secretary Report for September 21, 2018:
This past Friday, we had a few guests! Jill Slupe invited Ken Thomason, who submitted his membership application today! Susan Thomas invited her husband Steve Hutchinson and SamTepaossian (who had visited our club before). We didn’t have any visiting Rotarians.
We had several red badge members in attendance. We also had our club board members stand to be recognized.
For good news: Brett Wawers put in $1 for something nice being said about engineers. Susan Thomas, who is an advocate for public transportation, recently had a successful trip to UNO on the bus…and it only cost $0.60! Kim Kuhle got some help from a fellow Rotarian and was able to speak about Opportunity Zones to 22 people at Lund. Kari Hannan was excited to move into her new office at the Ronald McDonald house. Laura Thomas has helped with a film, One Vote, that premiers this weekend. John Morey survived two weeks in China but is not quite over his jetlag. Nuzhat Mahmood’s son, Alexander, is enjoying Kindergarten and was ready for social studies at 5:00 am this week.
Nick closed with a BIG 10 joke that he hoped would inspire a win.
Momentum is building as we launch a new fundraising event for the Rotary Club of West Omaha, and there are plenty of opportunities for Club Members to get involved. The Committee Chairs are in place and the group held its first meeting last Thursday, September 6th at 5:30 at Champions Run. Tickets to the event will be available in the next week, and can be purchased online using our secure payment system here.

Bring your books to Rotary - extended for two weeks
Due to public demand, we are extending our book drive for two more weeks! Last week, Janet Wallace brought 90% of her home library. Yolanda Hoffman brought children's books. You have two more weeks to bring your books. Champions has a nice sturdy cart that we can use to haul books from your car. If you would like your books to be picked up, please contact Gretchen at (402) 612-4383; email address gretchen@bloomcompanion.com.
