Upcoming Event, August 6th District Networking

Please join us for a district-wide networking night on Monday, August 6, as the Omaha Storm Chasers take on the Salt Lake Bees at beautiful Werner Park. Tickets for this event are only $8 per person with a portion of the ticket being donated to the Magdalene House, which focuses on helping those escaping sex trafficking.

This is a family centered event supported by District 5650. What a better way to celebrate 5650 than during the Storm Chasers 50th season in franchise history. Rotarians, their families and friends are welcome to enjoy the evening.

When: Monday, August 6, at 7:05 pm (Gates open at 6 pm)
Where: Werner Park, 12356 Ballpark Way, Papillion, NE 68046
Your $8 only per person ticket is available here. Please buy your tickets by Aug. 1.

Secretary Report, Nick Rosenberry
Omaha West Rotary Club Secretary Report for July 27, 2018:

This past Friday, we had one guest – Yolanda Hoffman invited David Handley, who is looking to join Omaha West Rotary.

We had several red badge members in attendance.  We also had our club board members stand so that everyone is aware of who they are and so that they could be recognized.

For good news: Lori Benton is starting a new job!  Martie Cordero had two things – 1) Martie’s cousin Chris is entering hospice after a long battle with cancer (he has survived much longer than expected).  Because of Chris’ relationship to the New Orleans Saints football team, Thomas Morstead (the Saints punter) did 418 pullups in 1 hour and raised $62,000 for Chris’ kids education!  Click here for the link to an article about this. 2) Martie also hired Dwayne Brown’s improv group (Big Canvas) for his wife’s birthday party.  They were very funny.  Jim Gerner and his wife celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.  Ric Miller said that we are getting a good turnout of volunteers for the Bloody Mary fundraiser, especially with Red Badge members.  Kim Kuhle had Mark Manhart, Jr. install walnut flooring in her house; and it turned out great.  John Morey was able to outlast United Airlines and preserve a recent vacation.  Matt McKeever put in a $1 for Nuzhat’s husband Mo, who has his first performance with Dwayne’s improv group tonight.  Finally, Tara Browne wanted to thank everyone for reaching out about her son.

We had some members who were in the newspaper, but they were not in attendance.  We will get them next time.  Also, everyone who did not buy raffle tickets was fined.  This may continue next week, so please buy your tickets.

Nick closed with an Irish joke (thanks Ric Miller!) and a poor attempt at an Irish brogue.

1st Annual Bloody Mary Jazzfest, Chair Ric Miller
Scheduled for Sunday, November 4, the Bloody Mary Jazz Fest will begin at 3 pm and conclude at 6 pm.  The location for the event is Champions Run Country Club.  Set up for the event will begin earlier in the day, with most of the work being completed after the normal Sunday Brunch concludes at 2 pm.
