Lyn a native, (fifth-generation), Omahan.  She graduated from the University of Kansas School of Journalism and Creighton Law School where she was on the Law Review.  She has served as an Assistant United States Attorney and practiced privately.  Lyn is a member of the Nebraska and District of Columbia Bar Associations.  She joined the Peter Kiewit Foundation in 1983 as the assistant director and became executive director in 1986.  She assumed Emerita status in 2013.  Since then, Lyn is coordinating the re-development of the area north of Cuming from Izard to Seward, 10th to 14th Streets, a project she and the Foundation initiated in 2009 to reinvigorate that blighted neighborhood and foster the organic growth of a Makerhood for artisans and skilled craftsmen.

Lyn has served on many national and community boards and initiatives.  That list includes the U.S. Council on Foundations, the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank, a GHW Bush White House Commission, Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and several gubernatorial appointments.  Her current community commitments include the advisory boards of Film Streams, Habitat for Humanity, and Completely Kids.  Her current board service includes the Omaha Sports Commission, College of Saint Mary, Creighton Prep, Nebraska Methodist Hospital Foundation, and two corporate boards of directors.

Lyn is the proud mother of a son, Charlie, (now 23).  She enjoys playing the piano, gardening, designing needlepoint, and aspires to revive her love of journalism to do some serious writing.
